= Adding swap =

NOTE: switch everything to md and mdconfig for +4.x

1. Create a vn-device:
<pre>cd /dev
sh MAKEDEV vn99</pre>


2. Create a 2G swapfile
 dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/data1/swap bs=1024k count=2048


3. Set proper permissions:
 chmod 0600 /mnt/data1/swap


4. Enable the swap file in /etc/rc.conf:
 swapfile="/mnt/data1/swap"


5. enable the swap file. 
 vnconfig -e /dev/vn99b /mnt/data1/swap swap


6. if there’s already an entry in rc.conf for swap, put these contents in /usr/local/etc/rc.d/swap.sh

 vnconfig -c /dev/vn99 /mnt/data1/swap
 swapon /dev/vn99
